Submission of logs

The SOTA programme relies on the submission of logs by Internet.
A database is accessible from the site SOTA UK. It is also possible to see at any time your personal scores in comparison with other operators, chasers or activators.
To access the database it is first necessary to subscribe (subscription is FREE).
To upload your QSOs to the database there are two methods available

·       Entering each QSO one by one.
·       Uploading a log file.

Specification of the format for an upload file :

The file format accepted by the database is a text file in CSV or TSV format. This field consists of fields separated by commas.
You may use the program ADI2SOTA to convert an ADIF file (generated by your preferred electronic logging program) into a CSV file acceptable for the SOTA database.
Here you will find further information on the required file format.
Important : during a SOTA QSO, enter the exact reference of the summit (eg : F/AB-001) into the field of your electronic logging program which corresponds to the <Comments> field of the exported ADIF file.

Submission of logs SOTA

The file allowing submission of SOTA contacts is a text file consisting of lines in which the fields are separated by commas.

Each line must include the following fields:

<Your Callsign> <Date> <Time> < SOTA Ref> <Band> <Mode> <Callsign of other station>

A further field <Notes> is optional.

During the submission of your file to SOTA, it is format-checked, and all errors are highlighted before your entry is validated.

To facilitate the creation of a CSV file, you may use the program ADI2SOTA.exe which will convert an ADIF file into a CSV file acceptable to the database.

The ADIF file will originally have been created by your normal electronic logging program. During the entry of your contacts, ensure that the complete reference of the summit contacted is included in the position that will be exported in the output field <Comment>. You can check the contents of an ADIF file with a text editor.

The ADI2SOTA.exe program will check for the presence of the summit references. In the event of a mistake, it is possible to correct the problem within the ADI2SOTA.exe program.

Here is an example showing several lines of an acceptable CSV file:
